Updates in the life of the Dueitt's!

I've neglected to post pictures lately of what we have been up to... so here is everything in a nutshell from over the past month!

On May 29th, Drew and I headed down to Lafayette, Louisiana to see his cousin Laci marry Mr. Chris Mahler. The wedding was beautiful and so was the bride! It was definitely a good CAJUN wedding! It was so fun to see Drew's family again since we hadn't seen them since our own wedding. What a joy it was!

On May 30th the very next day, we had to make a mad dash back across the Louisiana border all the way to Kerrville, Texas for BJ & Bonnie's wedding. We made it just in time! It was a pretty hectic weekend but well worth the drive because again, it was so fun to see friends since our own wedding and to see two people so in love commit to one another in front of God. Their wedding was at Roddy Tree Ranch and they took their vows in front of the river. What a great weekend!!

The following weekend was the first weekend of June and Drew headed down to Corpus for Brian Kirkham's bachelor party in Rivera, Texas. All the boys were getting together for a guy's "fishing" weekend and so I decided that I couldn't just stay in Houston with Lucy by myself.... so I headed to Corpus as well and visited my two sisters. It was their first time to meet Lucy so my neice and nephew had so much fun playing, bathing, and walking her. It was a nice break for me as well because I was off "Mommy-Duty!"

Last weekend I went to New Braunfels for a "girl's weekend" with my Mom, my sister Amy, and my neice, Kaitlyn. We got tickets to see Wicked at the Majestic and it was AMAZING! I just LOVE broadway musicals and this was definitley worth our $$. I've seen Phantom of the Opera 3 times, Cats, South Pacific, and Oklahoma but Wicked has been my one of my favorites! If any of you are interested in seeing it, it's on tour in San Antonio the rest of this month. I had so much fun with my parents and relaxing. I hadn't really spent a lot of time with my parents since the wedding either so I loved that quality time and also they got to bond with Lucy.

And besides all of our weekend adventures we have been busy during the week as well. Drew had been working so hard from home and downtown at the Courthouse and I've been so busy with my summer job. I teach cheerleading, dance, and aerobics to pre-schoolers 5 days a week. So I'm pretty busy and tired at the end of the day. And now that I have a big girl JOB for the fall, I've been thinking of how I'm going to decorate my classroom and set everything up.

I went yesterday to the Deer Park ISD Central Office and signed my contract! I'm official :) So now I just have to wait until New Teacher Orientation begins in August and meet the rest of the faculty. I just love my school and already I have felt so welcomed by some of the teachers, principal, and other faculty call me to welcome me to the school and district. What a blessing this has been.

This coming weekend Drew and I are going to lay low here in Houston for once (we won't get to be in Houston on the weekend again until August because of so many other events coming up!) So we are going to soak it all in and go test drive some cars for me! My poor little Honda isn't going to be with us much longer so I'm excited to finally get to pick out a new car. We also have a another wedding but it's on Saturday close to Houston so we will just be going for the day.

I hope all of you are having an amazing and busy summer as we are. Keep us up to date on what all of you are doing! It's so fun to hear about everyone's schedules. Oh- and I have some updated pictures of our baby girl... she sure is growing! On Tuesday at the Vet for her 12 month check up she weighed in at a whopping 5 pounds! She gained 1.5 pounds in 3 weeks! Hope to hear from all of you soon!

I GOT A JOB!!!!

I have been meaning to update the blog lately but because today was the PERFECT day I decided to share with the world that I'm now a first grade teacher at Deer Park ISD!!!!

I had an interview today at 3 p.m. (my first interview by the way).... and 2 hours later I got the call back from the principal that she wanted me on board. I know that the Lord is blessing me with this position and I feel confident that this is where I'm suppose to be. I just can't get over that I got the perfect job, the perfect grade, and the most perfect school district. Now I'm going to have to start brainstorming on how I'm going to set up my classroom :)
