Thanksgiving...Mmm! Mmm! And a Wedding :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I know we did! The first part of our day was spent at the Dueitt's house with Drew's family. Codi, Drew's sister, had flown in from Dallas the night before just for Thanksgiving day and Drew's grandmother, Maw Maw, was in from Louisiana. We ate light because we had to save room for our next Thanksgiving feast with my family. We hopped in the car and drove to Portland to my oldest sister Amy's house. It was so nice to be with my entire immediate family...My oldest sister Amy, her husband Danny, and their two kids my nephew Dustin and niece Kaitlyn, my other sister Katherine, her husband Patrick, and their kids who are my other two nephews Courtland and Tyler, and then course my parents. It was full house! We ate lots and then enjoyed the Cowboys and A&M/UT game. Unfortunately, the A&M game didn't turn out the way we had hoped but there's always next year.

Last weekend, Drew and I spent another weekend in New Braunfels with my parents and went to my cousin's wedding. Here are some pictures from the beautiful wedding.

Lately...

I guess I'm not a very good blogger but I've been so busy these past few weeks. As of today, I'm now a certified teacher in the state of Texas and starting tomorrow morning I begin my new job as a 4th grade math & science teacher! I'm thrilled to have been hired by CCISD to begin teaching at the school I student taught at till the end of February. I'm taking the position of one of the 4th grade math and science teacher's until she returns after maternity leave. I am so excited to finally be getting paid for all my hard work and dedication. Now all I have to do now is apply to get a j-o-b in Houston...

Last weekend, Drew and I spent our time in New Braunfels visiting my parents! It was so nice to just relax and for Drew and I to enjoy spending time with my Mom & Dad. I hadn't been up there since Hurricane Ike. On Saturday, my Mom and I shopped in some of the cutest boutiques in downtown New Braunfels. I love shopping with my Mom because she still spoils me :) Drew ended up spending the afternoon with my Dad, which was some great future son-in-law/father-in-law bonding time. We went to Clear Springs for dinner, which is always a favorite, and relaxed. It was so hard to drive back on Sunday.

This coming weekend Drew and I are going back to New Braunfels with my oldest sister Amy, my brother-in-law Danny, my niece Kaitlyn, and nephew Dustin, so that we can join my parents at one of my cousin's weddings! My cousin Donald Patrick Rains(DP) is finally tying the knot! We are so excited to watch him get married at his ranch outside of Austin on Saturday. I'll be sure to take pictures! It should be a really fun wedding and Drew will get to meet more of the family before our big day. I can't wait!

Busy as Bee!

This past week has been so crazy! So many things have been going on. I found out that I was able to complete my student teaching early since I was asked to a long-term substitute in a 4th grade classroom for a teacher on my campus who is having a baby next week. So, because of that I have been trying to get paperwork filled out for CCISD and now I've been officially hired to be a teacher! This will only last until middle of February which is great since it will give me plenty of time to wrap up our last minute wedding planning just in time :)

On top of being so busy with teaching, Drew has been gone since last Wednesday on a father/son hunting trip to Bueno Aires, Argentina! I haven't been able to even talk to him on the phone since he left, so this past week and weekend have been so hard. I didn't realize how much I missed him until I wasn't able to talk to him once he left. He will be back tomorrow sometime, so I can't wait to see him and hear all about the trip! I told him to take pictures, so if he did (and I doubt it), but if so I'll post them!

Since Drew and his Dad are out of the country, Drew's mom Jann and I, went to the Renaissance Festival this past weekend in Houston!! We met up with Mrs. Dueitt's two sisters and their families. There was a whole crew of us and let's just say I don't think I'll be attending this festival in the near future again. It was a lot of fun and I'm so glad that I got to go one time but it was just CREEPY! Everyone was so into it and all of the costumes were so bizarre. Some of them were actually very pretty but then you had some that all they wore was chain mail and you can see parts you don't ever want to see in public. And I think this really disturbed me the most because there were children everywhere. But needless to say, I had a fun time. I rode an elephant, got my fortune told and did a tarot card reading, swung on the big swing, and saw the jousting match! I'm waiting to upload all my pictures because Drew's cousin took half of them since my camera died. As soon as she e-mails them to me, I'll post!! It was too funny.

After the festival, we all went back to Drew's aunt's house who lives in Houston (the rest of our crew is all from Lafayette). We went to this amazing Mexican food restaurant for dinner and had a such a great time. We even started planning more of my shower that they are hosting for Drew and I in Lafayette, Mardi Gras weekend!

This week I have a full week of teaching and a job fair on Wednesday on campus. All of the school districts from all over will be there so I have to pass out my resume and hope that the Houston school districts will be interested in me. I am excited about some connections that I recently have made. A teacher that teaches with me used to teach in Houston. She has 4 friends that are principals in Montgomery ISD, Klein ISD, Cy-Fair ISD, and Spring ISD and has already e-mailed them about me coming to teach in the fall and one of them already wants to have an interview!! I'm thrilled to be so close to getting a job. I'm just praying to get going with my interviewing before all of the May graduates. We can only hope for the best :)

Halloween and Gig 'Em Aggies!!

What a fun weekend it was! Drew and I met up with one another in College Station on Friday. He was coming from Uvalde from work and I came from Corpus. We had plans to meet up with Jackie & Justin, Ricky & Brittny, and Brett. Drew, Brett, and I decided not to dress up. But Ricky & Brittny and Justin & Jackie did. They were all so cute!! Ricky was a male nurse, Brittny was a school girl, Jackie was an 80's workout girl, and Justin was hole punch Joe from The Office. It was so funny!! We ended up going to the old places we used to go to out on Northgate. It was so crazy to see everyone's costumes, I mean there are some crazy ones out there! I really don't like Halloween that much because I feel it is so dis-tasteful these days but the entire night was so much fun. Here are some pictures from the night!

After a very long evening out with everyone, Drew and I were excited about the BIG GAME against Colorado. I ended up sitting with the Kirkham's on the Alumnae side and Drew & Brett sat in the student section. It was sooo nice to be in the shade and sit down, especially since the game started at 1 p.m! We were so excited for an Aggie victory!! After the game, we were so tired but Mrs. Kirkham had made her wonderful homemade tortilla soup and famous hot sauce! So we went over there and had a feast :) We are so grateful for such wonderful friends and their families. After our long day, Drew and I were so tired so we ended up staying in Saturday night and crashing early, literally! We both ended up falling asleep around 10:30. This morning we headed to Sweet Eugene's for some early breakfast and coffee. Mmmm! I had missed that place SO MUCH! Before heading out we had lunch with Brett at good ol' Mi Cocina. After such a long weekend and a LONG drive back to Corpus I couldn't wait to relax. Drew's parent's invited me over for some red beans & rice. I just LOVE their cajun cooking :) I'm so excited to be marrying into this French/Cajun family.
Well I'm off, this is all for now! Thanks and Gig 'Em!
