This past week has been so crazy! So many things have been going on. I found out that I was able to complete my student teaching early since I was asked to a long-term substitute in a 4
th grade classroom for a teacher on my campus who is having a baby next week. So, because of that I have been trying to get paperwork filled out for
CCISD and now I've been officially hired to be a teacher! This will only last until middle of February which is great since it will give me plenty of time to wrap up our last minute wedding planning just in time :)
On top of being so busy with teaching, Drew has been gone since last Wednesday on a father/son hunting trip to
Bueno Aires, Argentina! I haven't been able to even talk to him on the phone since he left, so this past week and weekend have been so hard. I didn't realize how much I missed him until I wasn't able to talk to him once he left. He will be back tomorrow sometime, so I can't wait to see him and hear all about the trip! I told him to take pictures, so if he did (and I doubt it), but if so I'll post them!
Since Drew and his Dad are out of the country, Drew's mom
Jann and I, went to the
Renaissance Festival this past weekend in Houston!! We met up with Mrs.
Dueitt's two sisters and their families. There was a whole crew of us and let's just say I don't think I'll be attending this festival in the near future again. It was a lot of fun and I'm so glad that I got to go one time but it was just CREEPY! Everyone was so into it and all of the costumes were so bizarre. Some of them were actually very pretty but then you had some that all they wore was chain mail and you can see parts you don't ever want to see in public. And I think this really disturbed me the most because there were children everywhere. But needless to say, I had a fun time. I rode an elephant, got my fortune told and did a tarot card reading,
swung on the big swing, and saw the jousting match! I'm waiting to upload all my pictures because Drew's cousin took half of them since my camera died. As soon as she e-mails them to me, I'll post!! It was too funny.
After the festival, we all went back to Drew's aunt's house who lives in Houston (the rest of our crew is all from
Lafayette). We went to this amazing
Mexican food
restaurant for dinner and had a such a great time. We even started planning more of my shower that they are hosting for Drew and I in Lafayette,
Mardi Gras weekend!
This week I have a full week of teaching and a job fair on Wednesday on campus. All of the school districts from all over will be there so I have to pass out my resume and hope that the Houston school districts will be interested in me. I am excited about some connections that I recently have made. A teacher that teaches with me used to teach in Houston. She has 4 friends that are principals in Montgomery
ISD, Klein
ISD, Cy-Fair
ISD, and Spring
ISD and has already e-mailed them about me coming to teach in the fall and one of them already wants to have an interview!! I'm thrilled to be so close to getting a job. I'm just praying to get going with my interviewing before all of the May graduates. We can only hope for the best :)
